WIN is a national association established in 1983 with a multi-ethnic, multi-religious and multi-party composition which has strongly criticised the post-independence nigerian regimes for desuniting the country along ethnic, religious and regional lines. It has about 9. 000 members and offices in 22 states.
Aims and achievements
The WIN´s global aim is to organise and improve the living conditions of Nigerian women. Its political goals are to promote multi-party political system, to sustain the protection of human rights and to encourage 50% female representation in legislative and executive bodies. WIN organises annual congress about women´s problems, publishes revues and finances campaigns on democracy, good governance and women political participation.
